The new Chicago Theological Seminary for the University of Chicago is a four-story building that includes administration offices, classrooms, a chapel, a library, and a dining space. Additionally, the project included state-of-the-art audio visual technologies for interactive student education. The University of Chicago Guide for Professional Services required energy modeling, which, combined with a cost analysis, guided the team in optimizing design and material efficiencies, while maintaining the architect’s design intent. Photovoltaics were used to provide an alternate energy source to the building. 

This project also included state-of-the-art communication and security systems such as Fiber backbone infrastructure for the main incoming communication service and Cat 6 horizontal cabling infrastructure to all voice/data, access control, CCTV security, and public address systems.  dbHMS designed all low voltage rooms (i.e., Main Distribution Frame and Intermediate Distribution Frame equipment rooms) and all associated equipment racks, patch panels, and head-end equipment. This building was designed for remote power monitoring of all mechanical equipment, lighting, and receptacle loads via Cat 6 Ethernet interface to the building automation system.
